Yes. All clients must have a card on file. It is necessary to secure your appointment and for the cancellation policy to be enforced. A valid credit or debit card must be on file and available at all times. If valid card info is not received within 24 hours any appointments will be cancelled until received. SSL encryption is used to protect your information. There is also a 4% service charge when paying with a card. Card on file will not be used for anything except enforcing the cancellation policy and holding appointments unless you request for it to be used to pay for your session.
Other people are not allowed in the room during the massage unless they are a parent, guardian, or translator.
No, you can undress to your comfort level. Some people are comfortable being naked and some are not. Either is okay. Just keep in mind that the more you take off, the more I have access to comfortably, and the more areas I have to work with the better.
Never. I will leave the room while you undress and dress, and the entire session you will be covered and draped in a sheet and blanket. The only part of your body exposed will be your head and the part actively being worked on at that time. When I move to another area, you will be re-covered, and the new area uncovered then.
Preferably no. There is a table and a dish to sit all your jewelry on. It's understandable that some jewelry can be difficult to remove like stud earrings or nose rings, and are typically fine to be left in. But, if this is not the case it is best to remove it. Especially as jewelry can poke, or scratch both of us, can accidentally be pulled or snagged if they are dangly, or be damaged. Wedding bands are typically okay if smooth, but will likely get covered in oil or lotion. If you don't want to remove something and I find it dangerous, I will likely avoid the area they are in. Example, it may be difficult to properly work on your neck with large dangly earrings hanging in the way, or a delicate necklace. Your hands would be difficult with large or multiple rings especially with sharp diamonds.
You can stop the massage at any time, and for any reason. If you ever feel like your needs are not being met, or are uncomfortable with something, please speak up. You will be asked about your comfort level before and throughout the massage to make sure you're tolerating it and are comfortable. Even if you’re not actively being asked you can still voice anything you need to at any time.
Typically, no. However, what I offer is therapeutic massage so it may not always feel good either. It can sometimes be intense. While relaxation massage focuses solely on being relaxing, comfortable, and feeling good, therapeutic massage focuses on what a particular part of your body needs in that place and it may be different for other areas of your body. For example, if your shoulder is not very tight, it may not need as much attention or pressure. But your neck may be very tight and sore to touch because of it. It may take a little longer to fix that issue because it may need deeper work, or need a slower pace because of the tenderness. Sometimes it can start out tender, but usually while working on an area it becomes less so as blood flow increases and the muscles soften. Most of the time that's how it works. However, the pain should never be something intolerable, it should be more of a discomfort. You should be able to breathe through it without tensing up or tightening anything like you would during a good work out. If this is not the case you should always let me know. Sometimes there can be some soreness after deeper work, but again nothing more than how you would feel after a good workout.
Be limp unless otherwise asked. You don't need to worry about where to put your limbs or holding them up. I'm capable of doing that, and if I need help with something I will ask. Avoid planning anything or making lists, or thinking of stressful things during your massage. This is your time to decompress and relax. Focus on your breathing and feeling the massage. Give HONEST feedback ALWAYS. Communication is an expectation. I cannot help fix something you are not completely honest about. Throughout the massage notice what feels good and let me know so I know what to do more of. This helps me tailor your experiences with me to what you like. If there is something you don't like, or something is painful, again speak up. We can discuss it to alter or likely leave it out altogether. This is why I check in with you often. If it's in between check ins still speak up. This is YOUR session and you are responsible for your experience, and I am responsible for listening and delivering what you ask for and need, so it can be a positive and beneficial experience. I will never take offense to your feedback be it positive or negative.
If you are ever sick, have a change in your health status, new symptoms of any kind, restrictions or directions from your doctor, something gets worse, can't make it to an appointment, need special requirements, are or become pregnant, if anything is tender to touch, new injuries, if anything I’m doing is painful or makes you uncomfortable, or if you don't want to be touched in a particular place.
No, I do not take walk ins. All sessions are by appointment only. I must talk to all brand new clients at least once before accepting as a client and making the initial appointment. After the initial appointment and you are an established client, you can then have options available for future scheduling.
Not always. Sometimes I will take, or make appointments over the phone or by text if you are an established client, but online you have 24/7 access to scheduling. This is helpful if I may be closed or with a client, so you wont have to wait for me to respond when I'm available. Be advised though that the online calendar IS NOT in real time. This is because I allow clients to call and text to schedule and don’t always have time to immediately update the online calendar with their appointments. I try to update the calendar often. At the very least several times a week. If something you requested isn’t available I will let you know and let you know what is.
At this no. I am a solo therapist. However, I am looking into possibly finding someone to partner with for this, so this may possibly be offered in the future. If as a couple you both want a massage, there is plenty to do in the area while you wait for your session. Within 0.5-1 mile there are gyms, shopping centers, restaurants, fast food, mini golf, nail shops, a rec center, churches, parks, and the Dayton Mall is approximately 1 mile away. There are also 2 waiting rooms. They both have accessible outlets if charging is needed. There is also free Wi-Fi, but be advised it IS NOT MINE. The waiting room upstairs has a couch, and the one outside my office has chairs if you decide to stay and wait. Just please be mindful of your volume and tone if you are on your phone in the waiting areas.
No animals of any kind are allowed in the building.
Yes. There is labeled designated parking directly in the front of the building, and a full parking lot if they don't want to come in. There is also plenty to do in the area while they wait for your massage to finish. Targeted Therapeutic Massage has a cancellation policy. It is required to cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance to avoid any associated fees. See the cancellation policy under the policies tab above or in the footer.
It is YOUR session. You don't have to have any unnecessary conversation during your massage if you don't want to. I will not take offense. Just please make this known in advance. Be aware some talking is necessary as part of checking in on your comfort and tolerance, feedback, as well as any goals for the session you may have. Typically, I do not initiate a lot of small talk during the massage as I am focused on what I'm doing, and try to be mindful that clients want to relax. But this does not mean I will not, or don't want to talk to you. If you want to talk I will, if you initiate it.
Preferably no, unless you are bringing one for treatment. No one can be in the treatment room with you unless they are needed for translating, and this will need to be discussed and approved prior to your appointment. So they would have to wait in the waiting room. No children under the age of 12 are to be left unattended in the waiting room. And be advised they would be unsupervised, you are solely responsible for them and any of their actions, and you are leaving them at your own risk.
Yes! You can save money by prepaying. Save more by paying, and/or prepaying with cash! There are no fees associated with cash for me or for you. There is currently a 4% service charge for cards. Visit certain partner businesses, as they offer special discounts and gift certificates to my business. Ask for details! Make lots of referrals! Receive $20 of your next massage for every successful referral. Visit more often. I have a loyalty program, and you can either receive a FREE half hour upgrade, or a FREE hour massage! Ask for details. I won’t be offended if you don’t tip. My prices are set in a way that I am not dependent on tips. I would rather you put what you would tip toward your next session and get the care you need than make above and beyond what I already charge.
